Day 8

Early morning bus ride into the Campania region for a guided tour of an organic buffalo farm that produces the specialty "mozzarella di bufala". We walked through the grounds, watched the employees knead the prized mozzarella, and even visited the buffalo in their stalls. We were treated to a wonderful ourdoor lunch where we got to sample all the delicious treats made on the farm.

Bus ride to marvelous Paestum, the site of some of the most well preserved Greek temples and ruins in the world. A local guide taught us about the site and history of the area. One temple in particular was dedicated to the goddess Hera. It was determined to be a temple erected in her honor by the artifacts and offerings left on the temple grounds.  A museum on the grounds with artifacts excavated from the area, a tribute to the lifestyle and beauty of the original occupants..

Leaving Paestum, we traveled along the cliff clinging road to Salerno where we took a boat ride to our next destination, Maori, along the Amalfi Coast. Along the way we viewed the famous and breathtaking coastline. We walked from the boat dock to our hotel, San Francesco Maiori. Another beautiful evening spent strolling along the seaside followed by a lovely dinner at a lido. We were craving some food from home, ordered the "cowboy" burger, which was served with an American flag on top and  it was a delicious.
